Just when the celebrations of winning The Red Herring Global 100 award (more on this later)were about to end,   Mrigank   shared the big news. Voicetap is a part of a select group of 50 winners chosen out of over 250 candidates from all over the world.

About Mobile Premier Awards-

The Mobile Premier Awards are the largest open and global startup competition in the mobile industry. Participation to these awards is free and open to any startup with a mobile angle. It will all lead to the Mobile Premier Awards event to take place in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress.

We all are super excited about this news and are looking forward for the final showdown that would happen at Barcelona on Feb 15th. Wish us Luck !!

On a serious note , 2009 has been full of action . The year for us at Voicetap started in Feb when Mrigank came down, got me and Dev hooked to the idea.  A lot has happened since then –  The Conference Calls,  Career and Education Series – The Summer in 2 cubicles (more on this soon), raising funds, new office , new team,  Getafixx, awesome feedback from users, Red Herring Asia 100,  and now finally the flagship product which is ready to be rolled out. Each of these events have their own exciting stories attached with them. Not to mention the dozen of parties, the latest one being the Avatar show (btw you just cannot afford to miss it in 3D).

What next-

The coming next months will be jam packed. The year will start off with Mrigank presenting at COMSNET startup showcase on 8th in Banglore, post which we would be competing for Red Herring Global 100 at LA.

Let me share a little secret out here – Most of us here are BIG, I mean really big Cartoon/Comic/Animation followers. Siddharth loves reading comics (Chacha Chaudhary being his personal favorite), Mrigank is a die hard Harry Potter fan, I personally am a big Pixar Fan and yes not to mention Dev who has been a big Asterix & Obelix follower .

But then the question is WHY GETAFIXX -

So Getafixx the name is derived from the comic character in Asterix and Obelix. He is the druid who conjures up various magical potions which can cure all ailments. We thought it would be apt to name the engine as Getafixx – because its core area of expertise is to help cure knowledge related ailments – quickly and effectively.

Btw did i tell you about the Red Herring Asia 100.

I know, I know – its been sometime since we got in touch with you, and thanks for your patience. Over the past 5 – 6 months, we have been busy trying to come up with a product that cuts through the faff and gets you direct access to expert knowledge. When you want it, where you want it and how you want it. Intrigued?

This is a personal invite to try out the service first hand. Just add getafixx@voicetap.in to your Gtalk buddy list, and start chatting. It’s our first attempt at bridging the knowledge gap and mapping the knowledge stored deep in the minds of people. Give it a whirl. We have been getting constant feedback about the issues that are being faced by outstation students with dialing an STD number, so we decided to do something about it. The issues raised were

Getting back to the question, unlike many startup’s which usually operate out of apartments, if things go worse rented apartments, hostel rooms, we practically operate on Conference calls.
The word vicnity has eluded most of us and perhaps the journey so far been on nothing but 2 meetings and n (tending to Infinity) conference calls.
Nevertheless the feedback we have received makes us believe that we have done a decent job and with the beta in the pipeline, things should head north. *All fingers crossed*

P.S >> Btw have you heard the rumors regarding the beta version !!

Though this blog is not meant for our press releases,but then for the record, Yes We will presenting for the first time at Startup Saturday this weekend in Delhi i.e is 14th of March .*Cheers*
